Those of you who have read my diaries before know that I am a life-long Republican who has been swayed to this site, the Democratic Party, and to voting in this Pennsylvania primary for Barack Obama, by none other than the "Man" himself... Barack Obama.
The reasons for his influence over me are numerous and have been expounded upon in other diaries by a plethora of diarists.
And yes, I should get "tip" points for using that word.
I have, until recently, gloated about my Party's dominance in the national agenda since the Reagan years. Don't be mad...just know it's true.
My friends, who are still stinky Republicans, are gloating again.
Make the jump, and I'll tell you why:
Because Hillary Clinton is absolutely ruining your chances of taking back the White House. I know some of you are "worried" that it could happen. Some of you have defended Hillary's right to do whatever is necessary to win the nomination.
Can we just agree that YES, this is America, and she does have the right.
Can we also agree that KKK members have the right to walk down the middle of our streets in make-shift parades. That churches have the right to protest military funerals because "fags" are allowed to fight.
It's all perfectly allowed. This is America.
The question is...what is best for America.
Here is what I believe with all my heart:
Hillary will do whatever she can, and say whatever she can to win the nomination, and then worry about the consequences later.
I believe that your Party is a bit weak for allowing her to do it.
I believe that unless someone with some sort of pull and courage (Gore anyone?) decides to stand up and publicly tell her that she is hurting the Party, she will not stand aside.
Even then, I don't believe she will.
But at least she will look like a candidate out of control instead of the Democratic Party looking complicit in it's own demise.
These are her latest comments:
The Democratic race is a "long way from being over," Hillary Clinton told FOX News on Wednesday, and she has no qualms about taking the primary fight all the way to the convention floor.
In a sit-down interview with FOX News’ Greta Van Susteren to air Wednesday night, Clinton said not to write her candidacy’s obituary yet, even though she’s trailing Barack Obama by 157 pledged delegates with opportunities dwindling to make up that gap.
"Sixty-two percent said let it go on," Clinton said, referring to a new Rasmussen survey that found that portion of Democrats aren’t ready for either candidate to leave the race. "That is what people are telling me. That is what we have to do. Let the voters have a chance to be heard. Nobody should be writing obituaries on this race, because it is a long way from being over."
Wow!
Say what you will about my Party. And you can say at lot of bad things, I know.
But only the Democratic Party could mess this thing up. My God, If Huckabee were still in it, and had the same chance as Hillary, don't you think our people (Newt Gingrich, Pat Buchanon, Laura Ingraham, Rush Limbaugh) would be absolutely hammering him EVERY day?
They would tell him publicly every day that he was destroying the Republican Party. They would say he was ruining the chances of McCain to bring the Party together. They would call him names, and question his loyalty to the Party...and his country. George Bush would jump out and endorse McCain.
I mean, this isn't hard. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Howard Dean...WHERE ARE YOU???
Are you worried about some sort of Clinton backlash?
Please, put your Party first.
That's it. I'm out.
I know the comments already. "He's a Republican, so we won't listen to you." "Worry about your own Party"
Okay, whatever. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
And here's what you need to know about me. I really would have followed Barack.
My friends are gloating...but I am not.
I've never been more sad.
I thought we had a chance to put this country back together.
