Yeah, my Republican buddies and I were just thinking what it must feel like to be you. Oh yeah, that's right...we know!
We know what it feels like to crave the power of the Presidency so much that you will hop into bed with someone that you really shouldn't, but it's the best option available. We know better, dammit!
We knew better too.
We saw the way George Bush the Junior treated John McCain and painted him as a irreligious liberal with no moral center. It wasn't fair. But we looked the other way.
We wanted to win man! And he was a BUSH. He had a chance.
McCain was too, well...sincere, and authentic, and naive.
So now the table's turned.
I wish I could say I was enjoying it more, but I'm really not.
Because I think Barack Obama is a sincerely transformational leader.
But I think it's too late.
We "did the deed" with George Bush Jr. in those early days of the South Carolina primaries. We didn't know that our heads had been bitten off until several years later.
The party is in shambles today with scandals and corporate pay-offs too numorous to count. He has never really listened to us since he took his oath. Why should he? We were just a stepping stone, a useful tool for his rise to power.
Our party is so decimated we can hardly show up for a primary these days. McCain is a shell of his former self, and there's nowhere to turn.
Except, we can look at you and take heart as history repeats itself.
Hillary has already bitten off your head. You just don't know it yet.
I know there are lots of "hate" diaries in here. I also know there are sincere people who really care for, and believe in Hillary. I don't begrudge them that. I simply think they are human.
There are still people who feel good about Bush in my Party.
What can you say?
But let me ask you some questions.
Who has run the honorable campaign?
Which campaign has fired more people?
Which campaign has spent money more wisely?
Which campaign has been better organized?
Which person is more authentic?
Which campaign gets along with each other, the press, the detail?
Which campaign has tried everything they know to win: Barack like Jesse Jackson. Barack in a turban. Barack lying about NAFTA. Barack only being able to give speeches? Barack worse than John McCain?
And which campaign is sitting on a boatload of mostly true dirt... everything from Whitewatergate, to Travelgate, Cattlegate, Indonesiagate, Bluedressgate, Flowersgate, and on, and on, and on.
And they sit on it why?
Because he is honorable.
He's not gonna do it folks.
It's not in Barack to play the game the same way.
What he needs is for someone else to come in (Al Gore or Nancy Pelosi) and call a spade a spade, and say "ENOUGH!"
Will it happen? I don't think so.
8 years from now you all will be disenfranchised and distraught.
You will say what we are saying now about McCain.
"What the hell happened to Barack? He's not the same man anymore. He seems tired somehow. Different. Less authentic. Beat."
Meanwhile, the Republicans will be flat out hyped by a new candidate with a vision for America. And we will have young people coming out in droves to vote for him (or her) in the primaries.
But don't worry, we probably won't choose that exciting candidate.
Like you, we would much rather have our heads eaten and consumed by the WRONG candidate.
